About us

If you want to build a ship, don't drum up people to collect wood and assign them tasks and work, but rather teach them to long for the endless immensity of the sea. - Antoine de Saint Exupéry

Project Aether is a program designed to inspire the next generation of scientists, engineers, explorers, and dreamers. We collaborate with schools to teach students physics concepts, experimental research skills, and to demonstrate low-cost, accessible space exploration through high altitude balloon launches equipped with HD cameras. With Project Aether, students participate in project-based learning that is experimental in nature.

The process of design, invention, and creation exposes students to numerous career paths such as engineering, IT, climatology, photography, and aerospace and allows them to directly engage with the tools used by scientists in those fields. Launching weather balloons engages students with the world around them, all the while kindling their curiosity about how to design solutions to problems they are presented with.

It is the belief of Project Aether that this program has the potential to transform the way we think about Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics education and to inspire more young people to pursue STEM careers.
