Aether Industries was founded in 2009 as Project Aether as an educational program that launched high-altitude weather balloons in collaboration with schools to teach students physics concepts, experimental research skills, and to make space exploration accessible to students.  Using off-the-shelf hardware and Aether’s proprietary latex balloons, high school and college students could capture high resolution photos and videos up to 100,000 feet and even gather data from the aurora.

What does Aether mean?

"Aether, in Greek mythology, is one of the first-born elemental gods. He is the personification of the upper sky, space, and heaven, and is the elemental god of the "Bright, Glowing, Upper Air." He is the pure upper air that the gods breathe, as opposed to the normal air mortals breathe."
